The Bath Business Club launch
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Contact: Bath, 10th September 2007 The 18th of September 07 may become an important date for the local Bath business community as it heralds the birth of a new business club for Bath. Unlike the many clubs and networking organisations it is to be run and organised by local bath business people with a refreshing, enjoyable and proactive approach. Special launch visitors day for The Bath Business Club The Bath Business Club (TBBC) was born from the frustration of not knowing how membership fees were being spent, not seeing the ‘Regional’ organizer for the national club to which they were affiliated and knowing it could be done better. The founders of TBBC decided something different was needed. TBBC has a long term approach to supporting its members with the intention of generating business, training where needed and an environment more suited to the independent business person. Membership fees are used to promote the club and not as a means to profit for some remote organisation. The new club will officially launch on 18th of September 2007 when local business owners, senior managers and entrepreneurs will be invited join the founder members for breakfast and find out first hand how the club operates. It is expected that many of the visitors will wish to join and applications will be assessed over the following week. Those accepted will strengthen the already formidable team. All the members of the previous club were instrumental in drawing up the new Charter which frowns on meaningless meetings, the rushed handing out of business cards to faces never seen again and the promises of help that somehow fail to materialize. Although in its infancy the response to the new club has been breath taking with the first 4 meetings and get together swelled with business people wanting to know more. Although the format of weekly breakfast meetings is familiar the fact that TBBC is run by the members as a club where business people can not only talk about their opportunities but also discuss business issues, listen to presentations and also take part in dedicated training sessions organised by the club makes it different and exciting. The club is to have its own website and will consistently promote its members through special events and dedicated advertising. ‘We’ve set up our own marketing team and it really helps when you’ve got specialists as part of your membership. There is a very real focus on promoting the members as well as the club. Because the club is run by the members and it’s the members that will benefit that’s for sure’ said the first elected Chairman, Roger Davies of Apricot Mortgages. Andy Page of Rowan PLC based in Queens square said: ‘The past couple of months have been dedicated to getting the formula right with lots of intense meetings and discussions with business people outside the group to make sure that what is on offer is what people want. The club has been designed not to just benefit one type of business person but people at many levels from the birth of a new company to long standing successful businesses. We have had a trial run, tested it and had people looking from the outside in. I think we have got it absolutely spot on’. All of the members have a success story to tell and want to gradually build a solid core of members with a wide range of businesses and business people. TBBC members believe that not being afraid to think differently and the business club approach make the club stand out. ‘I wanted to be part of something that wasn’t the usual round of formulaic and hurried meetings. Somewhere ‘more adult’ where you are recognized as a business owner and where I can meet business people that will really benefit my company long term. In return I hopefully could be of benefit to them’ said Julian Potts of Landmark PT who are experts in property VAT. ‘It’s really quite an exiting time’ said Andy Fuller of Design Bull ‘I’m already benefiting from the relationships I’ve made with a lot of the current members and there is a tremendous amount of experience around the table. It really works if you run your own business and maybe need a second opinion from someone with the experience and qualifications’. The Bath Business Club meets at the Premier Lounge at Bath Rugby on The Rec at 07.15 every Tuesday morning and visitors are welcome. TBBC expects, over the coming months to organize other events and seminars.
